The Autumn Acorn: My First “Like”

On August 1, 2015, after talking and talking  about it for months, I  wrote my first post called “Working from Home”. After I hit the publish button, I called my son and excitedly reported that I had done it. Let’s hear it for Mom!

I told him that I did not expect any responses.  He concurred and counseled patience. I went to bed excited but telling myself not to expect anything for a long time.  After all, the web is a big place! However, I am such a little kid at times that I couldn’t help but hope….

Imagine my surprise when I woke up to a “like”and a comment from The Autumn Acorn blog in New Hampshire!

I was thrilled.  I wanted to answer her but I did not know how to do that.  Of course, I soon learned how and was delighted to make the acquaintance of this lovely, talented person.

So, thank you Autumn Acorn for finding and commenting on my first post in August 2015! Your kindness started me on my way!

Her website is https//autumnacorn.wordpress.com.  She is on Facebook and Etsy as The Autumn Acorn.  Please pay her a visit to learn about her lovely, chunky hand knits, patterns, essential oils and life in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

  1. I too remember my first *like* and comment. Three years later the novelty hasn’t worn off. Each one makes me excited and I’ve discovered this community of bloggers is absolutely wonderful. I am happy to call so many of them my friends 🙂

    1. I agree. It is exciting! The bloggers that I have encountered have been very supportive. I have learned so much from reading their blogs and my interactions with them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Lori

  2. Now I am feeling kind of bad that I can’t remember who my first response was from! It’s not like my bucket overfloweth with comments so you would think I would remember. Now I am going to make a point to check. I don’t ever want to forget that because you are right..its very special!

  3. Love this post!
I can relate so well to this. It’s only been about 5 weeks since I stepped into this beautiful world of blogging and I remember getting that first like and first comment. It’s such a lovely feeling to know that there is someone out there who is reading your work or someone who agrees or can relate. It honestly is such a brilliant feeling 🙂

  4. LOL I love this….when I first got on here, through my daughters tutorial, I didn’t even know what “blogging” meant…I was under the impression that this was a place for me to write to me about my journey in weight loss, a journal kinda thing…my daughter had access to my blog, she came over and said why haven’t you written back to anyone? Much to my surprise all the mumbo jumbo going on my blog was people who were commenting on my post…LOL I had no idea….an know I am so happy my daughter introduced me to this community….everyone is so nice and to be part of something so inspirational, and encouraging is uplifting for sure….look forward to following your blog…kathy

  5. How strange? I just reactivated my Etsy shop today. I thought I would post my paintings, vintage and some of my heirlooms creation. I’m also creating some of my body lotions, I was sceptical if I should post them on Etsy.
Thank you for visiting my post. I truly enjoyed reading your post. I hope you’ll continue to enjoy your blog venture. And I certainly will visit her as well. By the way, my Etsy shop name is: My Paintings Etc shop. Don’t forget to visit when you have a chance. I still have post the items.

  6. Hi Lori,

First I want to thank you for visting my blog and liking several posts. That’s exciting too because it makes you wonder how they find you.
But nothing like the first comment or when someone shares your post.
I’m glad you came by and I will be back here often.
    Thanks,
    Vernon

  7. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, it’s very nice to meet you. I was so confused with how to set up my blog that my husband did it for me. He uploaded the cover of my first book and it was way too big an image and neither of us knew how to reduce it. We had such a laugh over that and I just abandoned my poor blog for months and months until a fellow blogger forced me to tackle it. Thank goodness she did as I love blogging now – even though I still have sooooooooooo much to learn.

  8. I still remember my first like and follow. To say that I was surprised would be an understatement. It was an amazing feeling and still is. The blogospere is such an interactive circle of communities. I had no idea when I started blogging how many people I would meet. I’ve always loved reading, but I spend more time now than ever reading. A great place to hang out with friends and a cup of coffee 🙂
