My New High Maintenance Boss!

Normally, I would not complain about my boss in a public forum.  It is unprofessional and usually accomplishes nothing.  Plus, you know the old saying about if you can’t say anything good about someone…But, here goes.

I had been told  that a new boss was coming.  I was excited.  Change is good!

I did not know  when the new boss would arrive.  I did not know much about him or her.

Then she arrived. My life changed dramatically.

She was demanding.

She would not give me a schedule so I became an on-call employee.

I felt as though I was at her beck and call. Then, I realized that I was.

It was all about her.  She gave new meaning to the phrase “high maintenance”!

She did not care what I was doing. If she wanted me to do something, I had to stop and do it right then and there!

There was no room for discussion. Obviously she had never read or did not subscribe to the latest employee centered management theories!

My days became so frantic.

Rather than enjoying quiet, productive time at my desk sipping coffee, I was constantly interrupted..

There were unfinished cups of coffee that I reheated over and over. Even the finest Portland coffee tastes bad after repeated reheating.

I would start my work only to hear her shriek for me. I would go running.

My days were defined by attending to her wants and whims.
She was the boss and she never let me forget it!

I learned to eat on the run and tried to stay calm whenever I did not meet her expectations. She did not hesitate to voice her displeasure loudly and unequivocally.

To say that she considered herself a princess is an understatement.

It was all about her.  I learned to “go along to get along”.   Whatever she wanted she got when she wanted it and how she wanted it.  Why did I put up with this?

LoL I was cursing your new boss…then I was cursing you, LOL why are you staying, then I was wishing I was you, LOL I don’t have any grandchildren, my daughter and her husband have passed on having children for travel and living life for themselves….how rude!! LOL my son, well there’s always a chance…LOL she’s beautiful and yes I would have to say she resembles a most beautiful princess….congratulations……love the story xkat
