Coming in from the cold..

We were spoiled with  48 hours of sunny weather in Portland recently.

It was so warm that I wore shorts while walking my dog Ginny.

My legs were so white that I almost caused a traffic accident!

I slept with my windows open.

Fickle May

Then we were back to typical springtime weather in Portland.

Rain, rain, rain.

It’s great for the trees, plants, and flowers.

There is no doubt that the Pacific Northwest is one of the most beautiful places in the world.  So lush and so green…thanks to our rainfall.

Fireplace in the restaurant on a cold, wet night.  So inviting!

It was Friday night.  I was half-sick with allergies.  Another benefit of spring!

Camped out on the couch with a box of tissues nearby.

No food in the house.

I was starving.

My BFF suggested dinner at a local bistro.

Off we went.

There was a fireplace in the corner.

People were dining and laughing.

Waiters were scurrying about.

Great aromas were wafting from the kitchen.

Some trout wrapped in prosciutto, some vegetables and a glass of house red.

I was a new person.

It would have been easier to stay in and poke about for some scrap of food.

Going out, being with people.

That’s the ticket!

  1. Rain doesn’t upset me even when it goes on for days. We need it so much here in Southern California. It rained here all night and most of the day, a light but steady rain. For us in May, quite unusual, but it’s been an unusual winter.
Anyway, any time spent with a friend is a great way to enjoy the hours, rain, shine, or snow. Glad you had fun.

  2. We’re finally coming into our Autumn although the days are still warm (bit cool for shorts, Lori), Nights are getting a bit ‘nippy’ but we’re hoping this year to have a colder winter than last year as nature needs the extremes to flourish and prosper. I think perhaps we do as well. True happily warm with a BFF is the ultimate. Thank you for interesting blog. Love the reminder of The Spy who came in from the cold. (I remember this story still with some sadness). Cheers!
