Because I’m worth it

Breakfast for one   ~Photo Lori Greer in Portland~

I am trying to make every meal an “event”  even if I am eating alone.

On second thought, especially if I am eating alone.

Le petit dejeuner

Kale salad with olive oil and avocado slides

Roasted carrot (super sweet)

Orange slices.

Hot coffee with almond milk

Water

And, my favorite, a slice of Quiche Lorraine from St. Honore Boulangerie.

Way too many calories in the quiche but I love every bite.

I drink my coffee with a metal straw.  You may think I am being kind to the environment which is true.  However, I also like that it minimizes the stains on my teeth from coffee.  Vanity!

I remind myself that it is worth it to take a few minutes to prepare a nice meal, to set the table and to sit and relax for a few minutes as I start my day.

Having this time is a luxury.

I hope you have moments of luxury in your day.

  1. Ah dear lady, many others are looking at their clock or list or phone.
Yours is a moment of self love and worth like no other. Your light is shining well Lori, enjoy Le petit dejeuner, 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

  2. Looks great. If it is good for body, soul and spirit you are on the right track. I’m back to being a cereal and fruit girl. For breakfast thats about all I could handle. With coffee earlier and soda-water (great for the stomach) with the Breaking of the fast small meal. Yours certainly look delicious and healthy. Enjoy your day.

  3. What a fantastic idea (coming from one who sometimes forgets to eat, then shovels down something quick and easy when feeling faint!).😜 I would love to be more intentional and make eating meals an event. Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Oh I love the honest comment about vanity! That is why I don’t touch red wine 😉 But on the subject of straws, I have a friend who, while working as an air stewardess, came across a lady who refused the juice she was offered because it came in a little box with a drinking straw. She cannot drink from a straw, she declared, because this would cause her mouth to get puckered wrinkles!

    1. Hmm, another thing to consider. I can see her point about wrinkles from using straws. Maybe water is the answer as it does not stain, is not fattening, etc. I do find myself gravitating more and more to plain water. Refreshing.
How are you holding up during this pandemic? Hugs, Lori

      1. So far, so good. We’re not up at the same level of shut-down as in Europe, but it’s coming. Fortunately for my husband and I, we are on a farm and isolation would be easy. Our eldest son is stuck in a shared house in Stellenbosch, he is self isolating because two of his housemates are confined to their room in quarantine after returning from Italy – positive. I hope you are taking care and that you will stay well. ❤ ❤
