It was another day of endless rain in Portland. *
I admit, I wasn’t in the best mood. I was tired. I was sad.
I was shopping in Zupan’s for groceries.
I looked up and saw this sign.
It was like the universe was sending me a message.
Me, a widow living in Portland.
Me, a woman dealing at times with new chapters.
That’s all I need to know.
It’s so good you’re here!
I will take it from here.

* Please keep this myth going. In reality, it does not rain that much in Portland. We have more grey days than rainy days in my experience. However, we don’t want others moving here. I mean, I moved here but that was different. The borders are closed.
I couldn’t agree more…it’s so good that you’re here, in Portland and on the WordPress!

What does that mean? “We don’t want others moving here.”

“We don’t want others moving here”… this is a joke among the locals about the influx of rich California people. I meant the statement “tongue in cheek” as I am one of the people who moved here a few years ago. No offense meant but I will have to be more careful about my words. One of the things that I love about Portland is the mix of all kinds of people who live here and the tolerant, open minded attitude of Portlanders. Thank you for asking about this. Have a wonderful day, Lori

Oh, I didn’t take it as offensive at all. That’s why I asked. I figured it was something that I “just didn’t get.” (That’s pretty common with me.) LOLOL

Had to laugh about closing the borders to Portland. That’s how it was here. We had a quiet place to live and everyone thought it was so beautiful that now that ambience is ruined. We are getting used to the new, not quite so idyllic lifestyle.

What a great welcoming sign to find in front of you when you needed it! Isn’t it grand when life puts those signs where/when we need them? I’m learning to pay better attention for those signs. BTW, Portland was sunny and warm when I visited years ago. But I won’t tell. 🙂

Glad you are here. What a great sign to read at an appropriate time. Same could be said for WordPress bloggers. How often in a day something touches your life. I’m so glad you are here on this page before me. I live with the myth of Sunny Queensland here in Oz. Yes truthful for 90% of the time. But Oh Boy can it rain as well. Droughts and flooding now that is the real truth. Thank you for your unique voice….closed borders….I will have to think upon that a bit more as well. Cheers!

Funny, isn’t it, the things that can nudge us out of our bad moods – just a little sign letting you know how important you are. Me too, Lori – I’m glad you’re here.

I love these signs. Zupan is one of the most common Slovenian surnames. Any connection? 🙂

I will have to ask. The founder was killed in a motorcycle accident a few years ago. Even though I did not know him, it made me sad. He created a wonderful business for his family and the community. Happy Tuesday from Portland!
