Then there were three…

Working on the Oregon coast today.  *

With temperatures in the 90’s in Portland,  Astoria is a cool choice in more ways than one!

First stop, the lovely port city of Astoria, also of “Free Willy” fame.

The skies are clear and temperatures in the 70’s.

A lightweight jacket feels cozy.

Just in time for lunch at my favorite place!

The Blue Scorcher Bakery & Cafe sits on a hill looking down at the water.

It’s buzzing inside with locals and tourists.

I shared a table with a family from Denmark.  It was refreshing to hear their impressions of this charming town.

My lunch was the “Poet’s Bowl” of spiced black beans, brown basmati rice, salsa, cheese and salad with a sprinkling of sunflower seeds accompanied by a honey chai cardamom latte.

Delicious!

An espresso chocolate truffle was the coup de grace.

Time for business

Blue Scorcher’s Credo is Strong Community, Organic Food, Joyful Work

Wouldn’t you love to work at a place like this?  It’s fun to work with them!

Lauren talked with me during a brief lull in the flow of customers.

Then, Carmen surprised me with a treat: lobster mushrooms on crusty bread with a delicious creamy spread accompanied by a fresh arugula salad.

Call me a glutton but there was no way I was leaving any of this delicious second lunch on my plate!  There were four on the plate.  Once I ate one, I was hooked.

Buy When You See It

I had planned to take back a cardamon almond scone to Portland.

It was not to be.

I learned that “If you want it, buy it!”

When I returned to the counter after my two lunches, the cardamon almond scones were sold out!

As always, I lingered at the Blue Scorcher for a long time enjoying the food, the people and the view.

Eventually, it was time to depart.

My visit was productive and blissful.

Blue Scorcher Bakery & Cafe is a special place.

Put it on your “must see” list when you visit the Oregon Coast!

Their food, including their breads,  is fresh and made on the premises.
