Today is my granddaughter’s second birthday.
Today is special because it is her birthday.
Today is very special because her mother is alive to celebrate with her.
The Backstory
In May 2017, her mother was given 6-12 months to live.
Fifteen months later, her mother is still alive and living a reasonably nice life although punctuated by treatments for her Stage 4 cancer.
Even though she is too young to realize it, her mother’s presence is the best gift of all.
In gratitude for my granddaughter, her mother, the medical community, and the support of family, friends, neighbors and strangers at times.
In the midst of this struggle, we are blessed.
