It’s 2:16 A.M. and I am up with a sick dog.
She never gets sick during the day. It’s always in the middle of the night.
I open the back door for her and watch her through the window.
A few minutes later she comes to the back door, tail wagging, ready to come inside.
She seems to be over her distress.
She returns to bed and resumes sleeping.
However, I am awake and on edge wondering if this is the end of it.
Sure enough, about twenty minutes later she needs to go outside again.
Once again, she comes in, returns to bed and falls asleep.
That’s it. She sleeps the rest of the night.
I gradually fall asleep only to be awakened too soon by my alarm clock.
Of course, she sleeps in while I begin my day.
Health care professionals who preach the benefits of uninterrupted sleep have never experienced, or have forgotten, how infants and pets can wreck one’s sleep.
Yawn…

Does she need to see a vet? I know just what you mean about that in and out all night routine when they are upset. Hope you can get a good night’s sleep soon and that your dog feels better.

Just like young children they get sick during the night when mum & dad are exhausted and just want to sleep but can’t

Be careful, she may think this is a good thing. A relieved bladder, some love and attention from you…and you go to work so she can have some quiet and a sleep in after a disturbed night 🤣 You can’t help but have your heart on your sleeve kind lady, that’s who you are…and also why it can be so painful in how you feel the world is currently treating you. Your little furry friend can probably feel that so she is spending her attention on you. They are adorable, lovable…but no sense of ‘time’, love is ‘anytime’ for them 😀❤️🙏
