A Statesman, A Leader

For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens.    ~George Washington

I found this quote  inside the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education.

Washington’s words are a far cry from the hatred, bigotry, racism and anti-semitism I saw on NBC News today from white supremacist political candidates Patrick French  and Arthur J. Jones.

Washington was a statesman and a leader whose words are relevant and inspirational  228 years later.

Like Washington I am a WASP (White Anglo Saxon Protestant).

Like him, I hold sacred the laws of our nation, our Constitution and the tenet that “all men are created equal”.
