I looked twice when I saw the date. May 5, 2034.
This was the maturity date for a bond.
How many years is that from today? 16

Although it’s only 16 years from now, it seems like a lifetime.
My grandson will be in 23. My granddaughter will be 17.
My sons will be middle-aged. Yikes!
It’s true. “The days are long but the years are short.” *
Sixteen Years
What will I do between 2018 and 2034?
Will I drift along?
Will I work toward some new accomplishment? Learn a new skill? Write a book?
Really, what will I do with my time and energy before I “do go gentle into that good night” ? **
I don’t plan to rage against anything.
At least that’s the plan for now!
*Gretchen Rubin
**With apologies to Dylan Thomas.
His poem begins
“Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light. ”
