My preconceived notion about Apaches is limited to American history classes and popular media where they were often referred to as savage warriors. This reputation spread to Europe with the result that in France, the word “apache” refers to an outlaw.
Finding an Apache blessing posted on a friend’s refrigerator offered a balance to my view of them as only a vicious people. Of course, if I were defending my family and my way of life, I would be warlike also!
Apache Blessing
“May the sun bring you energy by day.
May the moon restore you by night.
May the rain wash away your worries.
May the breeze blow new strength into your being.
May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life.”
In Portland we have had enough rain to wash away worries for years to come! Still, no flooding and no severe cold. I will count my blessings.
My daughter-in-law’s hair is growing back. She is now drinking coffee. She goes today for a checkup on the status of her cancer. A Special Hell
My dog Ginny was ill recently. Her illness scared me and reminded me of how much I enjoy and depend on my sweet companion. She is recovered and back to her sassy ways. A New Life for Ginny
In the midst of anguish, work and worry, I find beauty and blessings all around me.

I hope your daughter-in-law gets good news. I bet she’s happy about her hair growing back. Your dog – I’m glad to hear she’s feeling better. I know how upsetting it can be when our pets are sick and they can’t tell you where it hurts. Nice Apache blessing. Like you, I was brainwashed about Apaches, and it’s good to see them in another light.

I am waiting on pins & needles to learn what the doctor said. Thank you for your well-wishes. As so Apaches: I have been brainwashed about a lot of things! Ignorance is just ignorance in many ways and not bliss especially when it hurts others. Now the sun is out and Ginny & I are going for a walk. How’s the weather where you live?
