liebster award

Honestly, the title for this post should be “Better Late Than Never!” I’m almost embarrassed at how long it’s taken me to do this. I was nominated months ago for the Liebster Award by three lovely bloggers. I’m grateful to each one of them for nominating me. They are: Anxiety in NYC, Curious Queendom, and Raw Honesty. Please visit their amazing blogs!

It would take me way too long, and be much too overwhelming to answer each of their questions. So, I’ll take some questions from each of them and mix it up a bit! I’m also going to add more nominees than suggested.

The Rules:

  • Thank your nominator and tag them in your post(s).
  • Answer the 11 questions given to you.
  • Nominate 11 blogs with less than 1000 followers.
  • Ask your nominees 11 questions and let them know on social media
My Questions:
1. Who do you write for? My first response is for…

Thoughts on Brussels…

John Donne

John Donne, 1572-1633

For Whom the Bell Tolls

“No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.

If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were:

any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind,

and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.”

Our thoughts and prayers to the people of Belgium.

Happy Happy*

It is another rainy day in Portland but I am determined that the weather will not get me down.  I am starting my day with a positive attitude.  My problems and challenges are still sitting at the kitchen counter with me, but I am approaching them with a bit of a John Wayne swagger mixed with a “win the day” mentality.

Paris? Oui!

Paris Eiffel Tower

Did  your Mom ever scold you about leaving things to the last minute?  Mine did, but the lesson never stuck.

I remember a childhood story about a boy who always  waited until Sunday night to do his homework. Imagine the upset when his friends decided to go to the movies one Sunday night and  he couldn’t join them because his homework assignments were waiting for him in his backpack.

That’s how I feel about my upcoming trip to France.  Did I say France?  Oui! Continue reading “Paris? Oui!” →

Mi Shebeirach

STempleDriveway

On some Friday nights, I make my way to Temple Beth Israel in Portland for Shabbat services.  I fight the traffic and my end of the week tiredness to participate in a service in a language that I do not understand with people whom I do not know. Continue reading “Mi Shebeirach” →

Render Unto Caesar

creative-smartphone-notebook-typography-large

One of my spring rituals is to moan, groan and make everyone within a ten mile radius perfectly miserable as I get in the mood, find time for, and finally settle down to do my taxes.

If I would carve out a nanosecond of the hours I spend kvetching, I would be done in an afternoon. But no, I follow the same playbook each year which may be another definition for insanity. Here is my foolproof system for the dreaded tax day! Continue reading “Render Unto Caesar” →

Friendship & Flowers

Linda Flowers

“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.”   Marcel Proust

A little bouquet that I keep on my kitchen counter. I see it every time I make coffee or prepare a meal.  It makes me smile. Continue reading “Friendship & Flowers” →

The Autumn Acorn: My First “Like”

autumn-acorn-button-design1

On August 1, 2015, after talking and talking  about it for months, I  wrote my first post called “Working from Home”. After I hit the publish button, I called my son and excitedly reported that I had done it. Let’s hear it for Mom! Continue reading “The Autumn Acorn: My First “Like”” →

A Perfect Saturday in NW Portland

Yesterday was a perfect Saturday for me.  By 8 A.M., I  was sweating at a spinning class, back home to housework and then quality time with Ginny before taking her to doggy day care. She loves playing with the other dogs and comes home tired, hungry and happy.  I’m such a good dog mother! Continue reading “A Perfect Saturday in NW Portland” →

I’m a Crybaby Today!

I hope you don’t mind reading a tear-stained post.

I am crying right now…not sniffling, but crying, need to blow your nose crying.
