A glorious, cool morning in May.

The sun’s heat was warm but not brutal as it would be later in the day. Continue reading “Baby Doll”

Since love grows within you,

So beauty grows.

For love is the beauty of the soul.*

Attitude

When I first read this statement, I wanted to throw my computer across the room.

“Attitude creates reality.  How you view a situation can have an enormous impact on how you live.

“Some people see setbacks as absolute devastation, whereas others view them as opportunities. At the end of the day, the choice is really up to you.”

Edward T. Creagan, M.D. Mayo Clinic

Pay Attention

I was never  guaranteed anything in this world.

I did not realize that until life taught me otherwise.

My life has gone in directions I never dreamed possible.

Directions I wanted and some I never wanted.

Some  were so wonderful.

Some were so painful.

All of them made me a better and sometimes sadder person.

Ladies Who Lunch

Ladies who lunch.

Ladies who drink prosecco.

Ladies who read books.

Ladies who laugh.

Ladies who are friends.

Ladies who are my friends.

Thank you for sending me this picture and wonderful message.

Thank you for your prayers.

Aiden

Aiden eating a healthy dinner.

On Mother’s Day my grandson Aiden called me.

Aiden is six years old.

We have been planning his visit with his parents to Portland all spring.

He was excited to tell me about what he had learned from a book about Portland that I recently sent him.

It will be the first time that Aiden, who lives in Denver,  will see the Pacific Ocean or bridges over the Willamette and Columbia Rivers.

In the midst of dealing with the crisis with my other son, it would be easy to postpone this trip.  Sad, Scary News

My Sweet Grandson

Somehow, I have to be back in Portland in time to make his dream come true.

He is so excited to visit me.

Oma, Do you know many bridges are in Portland?

How many Aiden?

Seven! Maybe more!

Oma, can we ride the train?

Oma, can we go to the beach?

My sweet grandson.

What a big boy you are now.

What a treat to hear your voice.

Oma, do you know what is missing from the book you sent me?

No, what?

There is not a page about Oma!

Oh, I guess we will have to add one, won’t we?

Ok, Oma!

Coach Mabel’s Tip for Today

If you have followed this blog you know that Coach Mabel preaches good nutrition, lots of exercise, mindful living, and quality sleep.

See her exercise video here.  Mabel Does Yoga

When asked, Mabel feels that sleep is an often under valued part of healthy living.

As an example, she cites her parents.  They are up throughout the night changing her diapers and feeding her.  Definitely sleep-deprived!

Like a good coach, Mabel practices what she preaches!

Shh, don’t wake Coach Mabel as she recharges her batteries.

Mabel’s Mother remains in treatment for her lung and brain cancer.

I remain grateful and humbled by your kind comments, prayers, and support.

Kindness of Strangers

All of the “essentials” go out the window in times of crisis.

Eating, exercise, manicures, hair, nothing seems very important. Continue reading “Kindness of Strangers”
