Great Coffee Great People

As sure as the day breaks in Portland, you will find me sipping a cup of hot coffee.

On warm days, I sit on the patio with Ginny, my Goldendoodle, who wonders when we are going for her morning walk.

In the winter, we sit by the fire listening to soft music.  If it is raining, Ginny is much less interested in going for a walk.  She is a fair-weather girl!

The first of my personal commitments is to work to increase human happiness by encouraging the cultivation of human values and a sense of concern for others’ well being.  These are key factors whether one is a religious person  or not.  Dalai Lama

I find peace and resolve thinking about this statement while enjoying the beauty and sound of my favorite stream in Whistler, BC, Canada.

Helping myself and others…

TomKhaaSoup

I am trying to do at least one good deed per day.

No, I am not working toward a Girl Scout badge.

It’s just that in my world and in the world at large, I find that giving and helping others satisfies my soul.

It satisfies my soul while grounding me during the emotional upheaval of my young daugher-in-law’s cancer struggle.  Stage 4.

I believe that I am making a difference.  Continue reading “Helping myself and others…”

All the little children…

There is nothing more to be said.  Now is the time for action.

The treatment of  the US government toward innocent, vulnerable children  is immoral and cruel.

Little children crying for their parents.

Parents heartsick not knowing when or if they will see their children again.

A special detention center for children of a “tender age”. Continue reading “All the little children…”

My heart is heavy

I feel so helpless.  I can’t do anything about my daughter-in-law’s cancer other than pray and be there for her, my son and their toddler.  Continue reading “My heart is heavy”
