Coach Mabel’s Tip for Today

If you have followed this blog you know that Coach Mabel preaches good nutrition, lots of exercise, mindful living, and quality sleep.

See her exercise video here.  Mabel Does Yoga

When asked, Mabel feels that sleep is an often under valued part of healthy living.

As an example, she cites her parents.  They are up throughout the night changing her diapers and feeding her.  Definitely sleep-deprived!

Like a good coach, Mabel practices what she preaches!

Shh, don’t wake Coach Mabel as she recharges her batteries.

Mabel’s Mother remains in treatment for her lung and brain cancer.

I remain grateful and humbled by your kind comments, prayers, and support.

Kindness of Strangers

All of the “essentials” go out the window in times of crisis.

Eating, exercise, manicures, hair, nothing seems very important. Continue reading “Kindness of Strangers”

Beauty Everywhere

Cancer is a waiting game.

Waiting for tests.

Waiting for the doctor.

Waiting for treatments.

Waiting for results.  Continue reading “Beauty Everywhere”

Mabel Does Yoga

Mabel is working on keeping her girlish figure.

As you can see, she excels at side planks!

She is a source of joy to all of us in this hard time.

My primary job is to take care of Mabel while her Mother is in treatment.

So, we walk, do yoga and hang out. She is a reminder of the joy of living in the moment.

Seeing her happy grin eases our emotional pain.

Blessed are the little children.

A Special Hell

Sign posted on the wall in the hospital.

My daughter in law has been in the hospital for several days enduring tests and procedures to determine the cause of her illness.

In the meantime, I have been taking care of eight-month old Mabel and walking and praying.

Strangers always stop to comment on how cute Mabel is.

Now strangers stop to comfort her Grandmother (me).

This is so hard.

It is hell all over again for my son and me.

It is hell for all of our family.

Waiting.  Anxious. Hoping for the best.

We received an answer. Continue reading “A Special Hell”

Sad scary news…

Dear Friends,

I had the phone call that no one wants to receive.

Ever.

Coming in from the cold..

We were spoiled with  48 hours of sunny weather in Portland recently.

It was so warm that I wore shorts while walking my dog Ginny.

My legs were so white that I almost caused a traffic accident!

I slept with my windows open.

Gatekeepers

My mind must be playing tricks on me! I finished this post today. I hit publish but could not find it. The nice people at WP found it. However, it shows that it was published in April…what? Are the Russians hacking me too? I never knew I was so important!
Enjoy!

One of my favorite sayings is this one.

The mouth should have three gatekeepers.

Is it true?

Is it kind?

Is it necessary?
