Being Watched

It’s creepy to feel that I am being watched.

It happens almost everyday when I walk.

It happens in a shady lane where I seek respite from the hot sun.

Walking, I feel someone watching.

There is no one in the lane.

Why I Walk…

Enjoy being outdoors.

Meet and greet other walkers.

Spend time with my dog Ginny. Continue reading “Why I Walk…”

A Mystery

Maybe you can explain this to me.

I rise early to take my dog Ginny for walks before the temperatures rise.

I have a floor fan that she sleeps in front of most of the day and evening.

So, why when we are outside does she lie in the sun rather than the shade?

After all, she’s the one with the fur coat!

Now You See It…Now You Don’t

I have to admit that I have always been a bit envious of people who think up “hacks”.

Not to be confused with computer programmers who “hack” into computer systems.

I am talking about those creative types who solve the nagging, generally insignificant problems of daily living.

I am a sucker for an article with the headline “Ten Hacks to blah, blah, blah”.

It can be hacks for storing tools, organizing Christmas decorations,  creating art with hambones… anything.  I am hooked.

Now, I can proudly claim to have discovered my very own hack! Continue reading “Now You See It…Now You Don’t”

Kindness 101

I saw this sign when I visited the hospital yesterday.

I loved the sentiment.  So, I took a picture.

I resolved to be mindful and try to “walk in another’s shoes”. Continue reading “Kindness 101”

Fine Tuning

Strong social support is one of the keys to happiness and good health. Making an effort to improve relationships with people already in your life is one way to increase your social support.”— Jeanne Graner Krochta, L.P.     Mayo Clinic

I have an acquaintance whose hobby is collecting “friends”.

She is warm and friendly.  She has amusing conversations.

She flutters from one friend to another.

She undoubtedly has hundreds of Facebook friends.

She finds no lasting joy in friendship, only the excitement of making a new friend.

Or, rather, making an acquaintance.
