The last of 2017

With apologies to Charles Dickens.

In many ways, 2017 was the best of times for me.

Then in the last eight months, it was the worst of times bringing terrible grief.

Now on the last day of 2017, I am looking forward with guarded optimism to 2018.

“I will try this day to live a simple, sincere, and serene life, repelling promptly every thought of discontent, anxiety, discouragement, impurity, and self-seeking;

Being Watched

It’s creepy to feel that I am being watched.

It happens almost everyday when I walk.

It happens in a shady lane where I seek respite from the hot sun.

Walking, I feel someone watching.

There is no one in the lane.
